Local processing

Safety and browser limits

  • Clip is instant: it stores the selected in/out points and references the source file without rendering or copying it.
  • The source file is never changed or uploaded.
  • Drag the in/out handles, then select Clip. The range appears in Review immediately with its source audio.
  • Instant edits live only in this tab and still need the original source file. Closing or refreshing the tab discards them.
  • This MVP limits each clip to 10 minutes. The source video itself may be much longer.
  • Save creates a standalone clip file and may take time. Original quality is normally fastest; compression intentionally re-encodes and can take longer.
  • Studio uses the instant range directly and performs the unavoidable render once, during final export.
  • MP4/QuickTime sources create MP4 clips; WebM creates WebM; Matroska creates MKV. Browser codec support still determines preview compatibility.
  • Studio can mix separate audio and export a wall locally; run its preflight before longer renders.
  • The local trimming engine is Mediabunny 1.61.4 under MPL-2.0; its license and source notice are included.
